    Sign up for free at talkingdocuments.com. No credit card required.

    Create a project

    Projects group related documents together. Create one from the dashboard and give it a name.

    Upload documents

    Upload PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, images, HTML, or Markdown files. Content is extracted, chunked, and indexed automatically.

    Choose your workflow

    Use Document Chat to ask questions and get cited answers in natural language. Or use Data Extraction to define templates and pull structured fields from hundreds of files at once.

Document Chat

Natural language Q&A

Ask questions about your documents in plain language. Answers are grounded in your content and generated in real time.

Source citations

Every answer includes references to the specific files, pages, and passages it was derived from, so you can verify and trace information.

Hybrid retrieval

Combines semantic search with keyword matching for more accurate results. Queries are scoped to the documents in your project.

Streaming responses

Answers stream in real time as they are generated, so you see results immediately.

Data Extraction

Extraction templates

Define reusable templates with custom fields (text, number, date, currency, boolean). Apply them across any set of documents.

Batch processing

Run extractions against hundreds of files at once. Results are organized into a structured table with one row per file.

Confidence scoring

Every extracted value includes a confidence indicator (high, medium, or low) so you can prioritize review.

CSV export

Export extraction results to CSV for downstream analysis, reporting, or integration with other tools.

Multi-format upload

Upload PDFs, Word documents (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), images (with OCR), HTML, and Markdown files. Content is parsed and indexed automatically.

Projects

Organize documents into projects. Each project has its own document set, chat history, extraction templates, and retrieval scope.

Credits

Usage is measured in credits. Each query or extraction consumes credits based on the model and document volume involved. Credit limits vary by plan.

TalkingDocuments uses a two-tier admin model for teams and organizations.

Org Admin

Manages day-to-day operations for your team or organization.

SuperadminOn-Premise only

Platform-level administration for on-premise deployments. Gives full control over the self-hosted instance.

Bring Your Own Model (BYOM)

On Business and Enterprise plans, connect your own LLM provider API keys. Your team uses the models you choose for both chat and extraction.

Connect any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, including locally hosted models like LLaMA, Mistral, or any inference server exposing the OpenAI API format. Enterprise customers can request additional provider integrations.

How it works

  1. 1An Org Admin adds an API key for a supported provider in the admin portal
  2. 2The provider and its models become available to all members in the organization
  3. 3Members select a model when starting a chat session or running an extraction

Key management

  • Keys can be added or rotated at any time without downtime
  • Keys are encrypted at rest and never exposed to end users
  • Different providers can be used for ingestion, chat, and extraction
